Marking 8th of March – DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality

This year IPKO Foundation, UN Women in Kosovo, and Women in Tech Kosovo teamed up in organizing an event to mark International Women's Day 2023 under the global theme "DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality".

Taking place at the National Public Library "Pjeter Bogdani in Prishtina starting at 13:00, this event will spotlight the importance of innovation and technology in promoting gender equality through tech talks and an interactive quiz with girls high school students participating in the event.

The United Nations celebrates International Women's Day 2023 by recognizing women and girls advancing technology and digital education. This year's theme focuses on the digital gender gap and its impact on widening economic and social inequalities. It will highlight the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and addressing gender-based violence online.

During the event moderated by Vlora Tuzi Nushi, the Head of UN Women Office in Kosovo, the participating young girls will have the opportunity to hear the inspiring speeches of H.E Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, President of Kosovo, and Arnhild Spence, UN Development Coordinator in Kosovo, followed by Adelina Qarri, Senior Program Manager at IPKO Foundation.

Further, the event will continue with the stories of two of the most successful women in Kosovo's tech industry: Teuta Sahatqija, Ambassador of Women in Tech Kosovo, and Hana Qerimi, co-founder and CEO at Digital School.

At the end, an interactive quiz with students will take place and they will have the opportunity to learn more about the successful women in technology through the years and will cover gender equality concepts combined with ICT. The quiz will be conducted with  30 students from Prishtina, Fushe Kosova, Gjilan, and Lipjan.

Considering that inclusive transformative technology and digital education are essential to bridging digital gender gaps and creating a sustainable future, this collaboration between UN Women in Kosovo, IPKO Foundation, and Women in Tech Kosovo is essential to achieving this goal.
