Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World

This International Youth Day, as IPKO Foundation continues with our goal of supporting and facilitating technological education in Kosovo’s youth, we are excited at the opportunity to look back and celebrate those we have supported in creating technology-based projects for a greener more sustainable future.

With climate change increasingly becoming a global concern, this year's theme “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable Future” could not be timelier. Further, the projects our young participants have built this year showcase not only how this issue is salient for them, but also how dedicated they are to trying to combat it.

At this year's jubilee edition of DOKU.TECH in Prishtina, IPKO Foundation had the pleasure of hosting the DIY Fair where many young creators were able to showcase their student projects. One section of the fair was a presentation by the students of Vellezerit Frasheri Lipjan who displayed their hand-built robots, many of which were focused on building a future run by sustainable energy sources. One such project envisioned a city in which the main energy source for all transportation was the sun. Another relied on motion sensor technology to help guide blind students to school, showing both how technology and nature can work together, but also emphasizing the importance of building a more accessible future for all.

Not only did these projects help showcase the talent of these young creators, but they also reinforce IPKO Foundation mission to invest in youth and continue to create projects that will further the technological skills of these bright young future leaders. Striving to make a greener, more sustainable future is necessary for the continuance of the human race.

We believe supporting and educating youth is a worthy place to start. Happy International Youth Day!
