FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF RES EXPERT 

GENERAL INFORMATION 

Program Title: Reshaping the future: Kosovo Women on the Front Line of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity 

Post Title:Professional expert of research/ research company     

Duration: 20 working days – end of April, 2024 

Start Date: Immediately after concluding the agreement contract March 2024 

The Service: The expert will provide the services such as: Conducting research on the portrayal of women online through AI tools, drafting the report.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION 

This project aims to empower young women and girls in Kosovo and improve their digital skills to identify and fight cyber threats by training them in gender-based cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence. This project will contribute to promoting reconciliation between the most-attached communities, such as minority women and those most disadvantaged, by providing knowledge and digital skills.  

We will achieve the results through 1) training women in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence, 2) raising awareness through social campaigns to reach our target, and 3) influencing policymakers through findings and recommendations from the final report. The target municipalities are Prishtine, Gjakove, Prizren, Lipjan, and Gjilan.  

IPKO Foundation and Women in Tech Kosovo have foreseen research that will tackle the portrayal of women online through AI tools. The research/report will be focused on women’s representation in traditional and digital media, using AI tools, such as ChatGPT, image tolls Stable diffusion, MidJourney, Dalle and other AI tools. The report will be a unique case of comparison between traditional report and reports that use AI tools. 

I. OBJECTIVE 

IPKO Foundation is seeking to engage one (1) expert of research/ research company in conducting research for the women’s representations in traditional and digital media, using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Stable diffusion, MidJourney, Dalle and others. The report with be a unique case of comparison between traditional reports and reports that use AI tools. The findings from this unique report will reveal the potential of AI and show us where we need to focus on improving the Big Data with gender component. The report will use qualitative and comparison methodology 

II. EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET REQUIRED 

The expert of research/ research company should possess the required qualifications as below: 

  • Educational Background: A background in media studies, gender studies, social sciences, technology and artificial intelligence, or a related field to understand the dynamics of media representation and the usage of AI tools. 
  • Research Methodology Skills: Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods to effectively analyze traditional and AI-generated content. 
  • Familiarity with AI: Basic understanding of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and the ethical considerations involved in AI-generated content. 
  • Data Analysis Skills: Competence in using statistical tools and software for data analysis, as well as qualitative analysis methods for content evaluation. 
  • Critical Thinking: The ability to critically evaluate media content, identify biases, stereotypes, and linguistic patterns that may affect the portrayal of women. 
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills for effectively presenting research findings to both academic and non-academic audiences. 
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Willingness and ability to collaborate with professionals from diverse fields, including AI developers, media practitioners, and social scientists. 
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Awareness of cultural nuances and sensitivity to diverse representations of women in different contexts. 
  • Survey and Interview Skills: Proficiency in designing and conducting surveys and interviews to gather relevant data from participants and key stakeholders. 
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with the technology used for AI-generated content, including an understanding of the limitations and capabilities of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Stable diffusion, MidJourney, Dalle and others. 
  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to analyze complex data sets, draw meaningful conclusions, and provide insights into the implications of the research findings. 
  • Publication Record: Previous experience or a track record of publications in relevant academic journals or conferences. 

III. EXPECTED OUTPUTS & DELIVERABLES 

 Expert of research/ research company is expected to deliver: 

  • A concise summary outlining the key objectives, methodology, results, and main findings of the research for a quick overview. 
  • Drafting the final report, with focus on portrayal of women online through AI tools.  
  • Visual representations of key data and trends, such as charts, graphs, and infographic, to enhance the understanding of the research findings. 
  • Recommendations for policymakers, media organizations, and AI developers based on the research findings to address any identified issues and promote positive representations of women. 
  • Present results in the launching ceremony 

IV. TIMELINE 

The implementation phase start from March, 2024 and should be completed by the end of April 2024.

V. SUBMISSION DETAILS

Interested research experts/ research companies should submit the following documents to
adelina.qarri@ipkofoundation.org no later than 11/03/2024.

• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• At least one (1) sample of previous work conducted by the applicant
• Brief research proposal, including a proposed action plan for conducting research (max. 1
page)
• Financial proposal, including the gross amount for individuals and free of VAT for
companies.
• Business Certificate (for companies)
