Making our future brighter and safer in digital ways!

This year, IPKO Foundation was part of one of the most significant tech events in the Western Balkans, the Digital Summit, which was held for the first time in Pristina.

Within the 5th edition of this event, IPKO Foundation brought Game Jam Competition, with 50 youngsters coming from Western Balkans.

Game Jam 48hrs Workshop started on Monday, September 19, and ended on September 21, during the Digital Summit main event.

Eleven participating teams were visited by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr.Albin Kurti, the Minister of Economy, Mrs. Artane Rizvanolli, Denis Piplaš, Deputy Secretary General of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office - RYCO, and other partners to see closely the creativity shown by young people during game development and design.

For 48 hours, IPKO Foundation, through Game Jam, offered young people a unique opportunity to create and develop games by addressing their needs for game development education that links directly to opportunities in the job market, better equipped with the programming, game design, animation, and other skills to succeed in this emerging market.

Game Jam introduced different and new aspects of game creation, supported networking between established game developers and those looking to enter the industry, provided a glimpse into the everyday professional life in the industry, and increased the number of women participants. IPKO Foundation and the game community in Kosovo have successfully hosted Game Jams since 2018.

In this edition, the top 3 teams of this Game Jam were rewarded with prizes totaling 3'000 euros. The awards for the winning groups were given by the Executive Director of the IPKO Foundation, Abetare Gojani, Denis Piplaš, Deputy Secretary General of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office - RYCO, and Game Jam mentors, Agnesa Belegu, Leke Sahatqija, Artan Minci, and Bert Gorani. The first prize award was given to 3HILLS Group from Montenegro; meanwhile, ZONDA won the second, and the third award was given to ZondaVeterans.

We are delighted that, together with the game development industry community in Kosovo, we are contributing to the development and transformation of the Game Jam event into a regional initiative.
