Techspiring Young Minds

Yesterday, young girls from all over Kosovo brought Sunshine to Prishtina!
On the International Day of the Girl Child, recognized by the UN, we are marking the day with beautiful, young minds gathered to create, share, and inspire in them the love for technology.

Together with our friends from BONEVET Gjakova, the girls participated in workshops and learned how to use littleBits, mBot and Scratch to build our imaginations into reality! Our group of bright young girls proves all ‘Girls in Tech’ stereotyping wrong showing great skill and creativity!
The next set of workshops were hosted by our partners Akademia JCoders. The young girls participated in the ‘Makey Makey Invention’ and ‘Introduction to web programing’ workshops!
No wonder some of our favorite programmers are girls, with such skills we can assure you the future is going to be bright!

What better than an enthusiastic crowd, and what crowd more enthusiasitc than one made of smart girls? Some of them wanted to share their experience @ Girls in Tech:
“I love the fact that I can touch water and make music. It’s very creative!” – Andrra Haxhiislami, ‘Lidhja e Prizrenit’, Peje.
“Today the ‘Girls in Tech’ project inspired us to work with the technologies of the future.” – Merva Kqiku, ‘Shkolla e Gjelber’, Prishtine.

Following the interesting and thought-provoking workshops, one of our favorite smart girls, Blerta Thaci joined us to help build a whole new generation of smart, creative, hard-working young girls!
Blerta has founded #GirlsCodingKosova and for the International Day of the Girl Child, she shared her story and inspiration with our girls.

“I realized that there is a small number of girl programmers because they weren’t advised at early ages about the world of programming… With Girls Coding Kosova, we wanted to help girls find opportunities in working with technology.”

After listening to Blerta’s every word to draw the best out of them, the participating girls were certified for attending today’s workshops and conference. This is but a small push from our side for our future tech-leaders!
