Ipko Foundation Scholarship – Aftermath

Posted on: May 27, 2016

Hey, everyone!

I’m Era Kuraja, a tech enthusiast obsessed with details, currently on my senior year of studying Computer Science – Software and Systems Engineering. At first, I was reluctant to pursue a major which I had little knowledge about, but three years later I can undoubtedly say that I am more than happy with my choice. I have always enjoyed finding creative ways to solve various kinds of problems, so I grew fond of all of it almost instantly. Technology is prevailing in the world in which we are living today, and the most fascinating thing about it is that, instead of staying the same, it is constantly evolving. We live in a small, developing country where we are doing the best we can, but it is very difficult to keep up with people elsewhere who live surrounded with far more ideal circumstances to develop and grow. However, in the case of joining our forces together and merging our ideas, that could lead to reaching Kosovo’s full technological potential. Thus, the fact that I can play a role and contribute in all of this, gives my motivation an immense boost.

Nonetheless, even if you have both the motivation and the passion necessary to flourish, you will still need guidance and support. Here’s where IPKO Foundation steps in: the foundation’s goal is to seed and support the development of the next generation of leaders with a digital vision for Kosovo. Are there any more words needed to describe what they stand for? When I first saw the call for applications regarding the Next Generation Scholarship, I was a little hesitant to apply. Corresponding to a lot of things today, was it just emphasized advertising, all talk and little to no action? Since I had nothing to lose, I applied anyway and was astonished with the results. I turned out to be one of the few people to actually win the monetary scholarship, which aided me enormously in financial terms, especially considering I’m attending a private university. However, this wasn’t the sole benefit. I didn’t just win something material, I joined a community. I had the opportunity to meet wonderful people and attend some amazing and educational events like DOKU:TECH, all as side benefits of being an IPKO Foundation alumni.

Lastly, I want to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to apply for a scholarship or sponsorship. Personal experience speaking, in addition to financial benefits, you will get the encouragement and support you need to grow further, and you will always be a part of the IPKO Foundation family.
